Kent Hehr

Kent Hehr, born on December sixteenth, nineteen sixty-nine, is a notable figure in Canadian politics and law. He served as the Liberal Member of Parliament for Calgary Centre from two thousand fifteen to two thousand nineteen, during which he held significant cabinet positions under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Hehr was appointed Minister of Veterans Affairs on November fourth, two thousand fifteen, and later transitioned to the role of Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities in August two thousand seventeen. His tenure in cabinet was marked by a commitment to advocacy for veterans and individuals with disabilities.

However, Hehr's political career faced challenges when he resigned from cabinet on January twenty-fifth, two thousand eighteen, following allegations of workplace misconduct from his time as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for Calgary-Buffalo.

In September two thousand twenty-one, Hehr announced his intention to run for mayor in the Calgary municipal election. Although he filed his nomination papers, he ultimately withdrew his candidacy later that month, citing concerns over the heightened risks of COVID-19 for individuals with spinal cord injuries.

Before his political journey, Hehr was known as a disability activist and practiced law, advocating for the rights and needs of those with disabilities.
