Kevin P. Chilton

Kevin P. Chilton, born on November 3, 1954, is a distinguished American mechanical engineer and a retired four-star general of the United States Air Force. His illustrious career includes serving as a test pilot and a NASA astronaut, where he dedicated eleven years of his life to advancing space exploration.

Chilton's final military assignment was as the commander of U.S. Strategic Command, a position he held from October 3, 2007, until January 28, 2011. His leadership in this role underscored his significant contributions to national security and military strategy.

After achieving the highest rank of any military astronaut, Chilton retired from the Air Force on February 1, 2011. His remarkable journey in the military and space sectors has left an indelible mark on both fields.

In recognition of his expertise and experience, General Chilton was appointed to the board of directors of Orbital Sciences Corporation on January 30, 2012, further extending his influence in aerospace and engineering.
