He served as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors from two thousand six to two thousand eleven, where he became a key figure in the central bank's response to the financial turmoil of two thousand eight.

During the financial crisis, Warsh was the primary liaison between the Federal Reserve and Wall Street, representing the Board at the Group of Twenty (G20) meetings and engaging with both emerging and advanced economies in Asia. His expertise was further honed through his previous role as Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy and Executive Secretary of the White House National Economic Council under President George W. Bush.

Currently, Warsh holds the position of Shepard Family Distinguished Visiting Fellow in Economics at the Hoover Institution of Stanford University. He is also a scholar and lecturer at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, a member of the Group of Thirty, and serves on the Panel of Economic Advisers for the Congressional Budget Office. His extensive experience includes advising various private and public companies and participating in high-level economic discussions as a former steering committee member of the Bilderberg Group.
