Killing of Nick Berg

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Killing of Nick Berg

Nick Berg was an American freelance radio-tower repairman who ventured to Iraq following the United States' invasion in two thousand and three. His journey was driven by a desire to contribute to the reconstruction efforts in a war-torn country.

Tragically, Berg's life was cut short when he was abducted by Islamist militants. In May two thousand and four, a horrific video surfaced, depicting his beheading. This act was reportedly a response to the Abu Ghraib torture and prisoner abuse scandal involving the United States Army and Iraqi detainees.

The Central Intelligence Agency attributed Berg's murder to the notorious Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a key figure in the insurgency against U.S. forces in Iraq. The release of the decapitation video, which was disseminated on the internet, was linked to the Islamist organization Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad, and it was reportedly uploaded from London to a Malaysian-hosted website.
