Kim Hyon-hui

Kim Hyon-hui, born on January 27, 1962, is a former North Korean agent whose actions have left an indelible mark on history. Known by the alias Okhwa, she was responsible for the tragic bombing of Korean Air Flight 858 in 1987, an act of terrorism that resulted in the loss of one hundred and fifteen lives. Her involvement in this heinous act led to her arrest in Bahrain, where she was subsequently extradited to South Korea.

Upon her arrival in South Korea, Kim faced a death sentence for her crimes. However, her fate took a different turn when she was pardoned shortly after her conviction. This unexpected reprieve allowed her to reflect on her past and the consequences of her actions.

Since leaving North Korea, Kim Hyon-hui has publicly expressed deep regret for her role in the bombing. She has become a source of information regarding the internal conditions of North Korea and has shed light on the plight of abductees, contributing to a broader understanding of the regime's impact on its citizens.
