Kim Mulkey

Kim Mulkey, born on May seventeenth, nineteen sixty-two, is a distinguished American college basketball coach and former player. Since two thousand twenty-one, she has taken the helm as the head coach of Louisiana State University's women's basketball team, showcasing her exceptional leadership and expertise in the sport.

A remarkable athlete, Mulkey earned a Pan-American gold medal in nineteen eighty-three and an Olympic gold medal in nineteen eighty-four. She made history as the first coach in NCAA basketball to secure national championships as a player, assistant coach, and head coach. Her involvement in the NCAA women's tournament has been consistent since its inception in nineteen eighty-two, with the exception of nineteen eighty-five and two thousand three.

As head coach, Mulkey has led her teams to NCAA championships at Baylor in two thousand five, two thousand twelve, and two thousand nineteen, and at LSU in two thousand twenty-three. She is among the elite group of seven coaches who have achieved multiple championship victories, ranking third behind UConn's Geno Auriemma and former Tennessee coach Pat Summitt.

In recognition of her contributions to the sport, Mulkey was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in two thousand and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in two thousand twenty.
