Kim Thúy, a celebrated Vietnamese-born Canadian writer, was born in Vietnam in nineteen sixty-eight. At the tender age of ten, she embarked on a life-changing journey as part of the wave of refugees known as 'the boat people,' ultimately settling in Quebec, Canada with her family.
Her academic pursuits led her to graduate in both translation and law, equipping her with a diverse skill set. Throughout her career, Kim has worn many hats, including those of a seamstress, interpreter, lawyer, and restaurateur, showcasing her versatility and dedication to her craft.
As an accomplished author, Kim Thúy has garnered numerous accolades, including the prestigious Governor General’s Literary Award in two thousand ten. In two thousand eighteen, she was recognized as one of the top four finalists for the Alternative Nobel Prize, further solidifying her status in the literary world.
