Kim Yong-nam

Kim Yong-nam, born on February fourth, nineteen twenty-eight, was a prominent North Korean politician and diplomat. He held the esteemed position of president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly from nineteen ninety-eight until two thousand nineteen, during which time he was regarded as the head of state of North Korea.

His tenure in this influential role came to an end in two thousand nineteen, coinciding with a significant constitutional amendment that transferred the head of state position to Kim Jong Un, the President of the State Affairs Commission. This transition marked a pivotal moment in North Korean governance.

Prior to his presidency, Kim Yong-nam served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from nineteen eighty-three to nineteen ninety-eight. His extensive experience in diplomacy and politics was further recognized when he was elected a member of the Presidium of the Workers' Party of Korea in two thousand ten, solidifying his status within the party's hierarchy.
