King Dao of Zhou

King Dao of Zhou, known by his personal name Ji Meng, was a significant figure in the history of the Zhou dynasty of China. He ascended to the throne following the reign of his father, King Jǐng, marking the continuation of a royal lineage that had a profound impact on Chinese governance.

His reign, however, was tragically short-lived, lasting less than a year. The political landscape of the time was fraught with tension, and Dao's life was cut short when he was killed by his own brother, Prince Zhao. This fratricidal act not only ended Dao's rule but also set the stage for further turmoil within the royal family.

Following the untimely death of King Dao, the throne was passed to another brother, King Jìng, who would take on the mantle of leadership in a time of uncertainty. The events surrounding King Dao's brief reign serve as a poignant reminder of the fragility of power and the often perilous nature of royal succession in ancient China.
