As a former professional racing cyclist, she competed for the UCI Women's Team Rally UHC Cycling from two thousand sixteen to two thousand nineteen, showcasing her talent on the international stage.

In two thousand fifteen, Lay made her mark at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships, where she earned a bronze medal in the Team Pursuit event. Her dedication and skill led to her selection for Canada's Olympic team in two thousand sixteen, where she again secured a bronze medal in the same event, solidifying her status as a top competitor.

Before her cycling career, Lay was an accomplished speed skater.
