Kirsti Sparboe, born on December 7, 1946, in Tromsø, Norway, is a celebrated musical performer and actress known for her remarkable contributions to the Eurovision Song Contest. Her journey in music began at the young age of eighteen when she first competed in the contest in 1965 with her song 'Karusell', securing a thirteenth-place finish. The following year, she showcased her talent again in the Norwegian pre-selection with 'Gi Meg Fri', where she impressively came in second.
In 1967, Sparboe achieved a significant milestone by winning the pre-selection with her song 'Dukkemann', which later placed fourteenth in the Eurovision. Her passion for music led her to participate in the 1968 pre-selection, but her song 'Jag har aldri vært så glad i no'en som deg' faced disqualification due to plagiarism allegations. Nevertheless, she continued to make her mark by covering the winning song of that year, Spain's 'La La La', in Norwegian.
