Kizito Mihigo

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Kizito Mihigo

Kizito Mihigo, born on July twenty-fifth, nineteen eighty-one, was a remarkable Rwandan gospel singer, composer, and organist. He was not only an artist but also a television presenter and a dedicated peace and reconciliation activist. A survivor of the Rwandan genocide, Kizito devoted his life to healing the wounds of his fellow survivors and fostering unity in a nation scarred by conflict.

In two thousand ten, he founded the Kizito Mihigo Peace Foundation, a non-profit organization aimed at promoting peace and reconciliation through music and community engagement. His work was deeply rooted in his belief that art could console and strengthen the hearts of those affected by trauma. Kizito famously stated, 'The objective of my works is to console and strengthen the wounded hearts, singing peace and forgiveness.'

However, his commitment to truth and reconciliation led to significant challenges. In April two thousand fourteen, after releasing a song that critiqued the official narrative of the Rwandan genocide, he was arrested and accused of plotting to overthrow the government. In February two thousand fifteen, he was sentenced to ten years in prison for conspiracy against President Paul Kagame's administration.

After being granted presidential clemency and released from Mageragere Prison in September two thousand eighteen, Kizito's struggles were far from over. He was rearrested on February thirteenth, two thousand twenty, and tragically died in custody just four days later, under circumstances that raised many questions and concerns.
