Klete Keller

Klete Keller, born on March 21, 1982, is a distinguished American former competitive swimmer who made a significant mark in the world of athletics. Before his retirement in 2008, Keller achieved remarkable success, securing five Olympic medals, including two golds, during the prestigious Summer Olympics held in 2000, 2004, and 2008. His prowess was particularly evident in the 400-meter freestyle and the 4×200-meter freestyle relay events.

However, Keller's post-swimming life took a controversial turn. In January 2021, he participated in the January 6 United States Capitol attack, an event that led to his arrest and subsequent charges for his involvement. The legal repercussions were significant, as he was indicted on seven charges by a grand jury the following month.

As part of a plea bargain, Keller ultimately pleaded guilty to a single felony charge. In December 2023, he faced sentencing, receiving three years of probation and six months of home detention. His legal troubles culminated in January 2025 when he was granted a full, complete, and unconditional pardon by President Donald Trump, as part of a broader clemency proclamation.
