Kliment Kolesnikov, born on July ninth, two thousand, is a prominent Russian swimmer known for his exceptional talent in backstroke events. He has made a significant mark in the swimming world by holding world junior records in eight different events, including the 50, 100, and 200 meters backstroke in long course, as well as the 200 meters freestyle, and the 50, 100, and 200 meters backstroke and 100 meters individual medley in short course.
His competitive journey began at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships, where he showcased his skills in three backstroke events, setting two world junior records. A remarkable achievement came in December of the same year when he set a short course world record in the 100 meters backstroke at the Vladimir Salnikov Cup, becoming the first swimmer born in the 2000s to hold a world record in an individual event.
Kolesnikov's prowess continued to shine at the 2018 European Championships, where he earned a total of six medals, including three golds, two silvers, and one bronze, while also establishing a new world record in the 50 meters backstroke. His remarkable performance at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics further solidified his status as a rising star, as he was chosen to be the flag bearer for Russia and won six gold medals.
In April 2023, during the Russian National Championships held in Kazan, Kolesnikov continued to demonstrate his dominance in the pool. He clinched the gold medal in the 100 meters backstroke with a time of fifty-two point fifty-four seconds, followed by victories in the 50 meters backstroke and the 50 meters freestyle. He also secured a bronze medal in the 100 meters freestyle and contributed to a gold medal win as part of the Moscow relay team in the 4×100 meters medley relay.
