Kocel

Kocel, a prominent ruler of the Principality of Lower Pannonia, held significant influence during his reign. His leadership spanned from the years eight hundred sixty-one or eight hundred sixty-four until eight hundred seventy-six, a period marked by political complexity and regional dynamics.

As an East Frankish vassal, Kocel was bestowed the title of comes, or count, which underscored his noble status and responsibilities. His governance was centered in Mosapurc, a location that is also referred to in Old-Slavonic as Blatnograd, which is present-day Zalavár near Lake Balaton.

Kocel's rule is characterized by his strategic alliances and the management of local affairs, reflecting the intricate relationships between the various powers of the time. His legacy continues to be a subject of interest for historians studying the region's past.
