Konstantinos Paspatis

Konstantinos Paspatis, born on June fifth, eighteen seventy-eight in Liverpool, England, was a prominent Greek tennis player who made his mark in the early days of the sport.

He gained recognition for his participation in the inaugural modern Olympic Games held in Athens in eighteen ninety-six. Paspatis showcased his talent by winning a bronze medal in the singles tournament, where he first triumphed over George S. Robertson from Great Britain and Ireland.

In the second round, he faced fellow Greek Aristidis Akratopoulos, whom he also defeated. However, his journey came to an end in the semifinals against the eventual gold medalist, John Pius Boland. Due to the absence of a playoff for third place, Paspatis shared the bronze with Hungary's Momcsilló Tapavicza.

In addition to his singles success, Paspatis competed in the doubles tournament alongside his partner Evangelos Rallis. Unfortunately, they were eliminated in the first round by the Greek duo of Dionysios Kasdaglis and Demetrios Petrokokkinos, resulting in a tie for fourth place among the five competing pairs.

Konstantinos Paspatis passed away in Athens, leaving behind a legacy as one of the early figures in Olympic tennis.
