Kostas Mitroglou

Kostas Mitroglou, born on March 12, 1988, is a former professional footballer from Greece, renowned for his prowess as a striker. Fans affectionately dubbed him "Mitrogoal" and "Pistolero" due to his remarkable goalscoring abilities, which made him a standout player throughout his career.

Raised in Germany, Mitroglou began his football journey at Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he quickly gained recognition as a promising talent. In the summer of 2007, he made a significant move to Olympiacos, where he had two loan spells at Panionios and Atromitos before solidifying his place in the first team.

In 2014, he transferred to Fulham in the Premier League for a club record fee of twelve million pounds. Unfortunately, his time at Fulham was marred by injuries, and the team faced relegation in his only season. Following this setback, he returned to Olympiacos on loan before making a permanent switch to Benfica in 2016.

During his tenure with Benfica, Mitroglou achieved considerable success, winning five major honors, including consecutive league titles. He also set a personal milestone by scoring twenty-seven goals in a single season, showcasing his exceptional talent on the field.

A full international since 2009, Mitroglou has represented the Greece national team over sixty times. He was part of the squad for UEFA Euro 2012 and the 2014 FIFA World Cup, further solidifying his legacy in Greek football.
