Kumba Yala

Kumba Yalá Embaló, born on March fifteenth, nineteen fifty-three, was a prominent Bissau-Guinean politician who made significant contributions to his country's political landscape. He served as the President of Guinea-Bissau from February seventeenth, two thousand until his ousting in a bloodless military coup on September fourteenth, two thousand three. His leadership was marked by his affiliation with the Balanta ethnic group and his role as the head of the Social Renewal Party (PRS).

Throughout his political career, Yalá was known for his commitment to social renewal and reform. His tenure as president was characterized by efforts to navigate the complexities of governance in a nation facing numerous challenges. Despite the abrupt end to his presidency, his influence on the political scene remained significant.

In two thousand eight, Yalá underwent a personal transformation by converting to Islam, adopting the name Mohamed Yalá Embaló.
