Kurmanbek Bakiyev

Kurmanbek Bakiyev, born on August first, nineteen forty-nine, is a notable Kyrgyzstani politician who rose to prominence as the second president of Kyrgyzstan. His presidency spanned from two thousand five until his removal in two thousand ten, a period marked by significant political upheaval known as the Kyrgyz Revolution.

Before ascending to the presidency, Bakiyev was a key figure in the People's Movement of Kyrgyzstan, garnering substantial support from the southern regions of the country. His political journey took a pivotal turn on March twenty-fifth, two thousand five, when he was appointed acting president by the Legislative Assembly of Kyrgyzstan, following the ousting of President Askar Akayev during the Tulip Revolution.

In October two thousand seven, Bakiyev sought to further solidify his political influence by initiating the creation of the Ak Jol party. However, his role as president limited his ability to lead the party effectively, showcasing the challenges he faced in balancing his political ambitions with the responsibilities of his office.
