Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Kyösti Kallio

Kyösti Kallio, born on April tenth, eighteen seventy-three, was a significant figure in Finnish politics, serving as the president of Finland from nineteen thirty-seven to nineteen forty. His presidency was marked by the tumultuous period of the Winter War, during which he took on the role of a spiritual leader for the nation, even as he ceded the position of commander-in-chief to Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim.

Notably, Kallio was the first president of Finland to resign from office and remains the only one to have died while in office, succumbing to a heart attack shortly after submitting his resignation. His political career was distinguished by his leadership in the Agrarian League party, where he served as Prime Minister on four occasions and as Speaker of the Parliament six times.

Throughout his tenure, Kallio held the position of Minister of Agriculture five times between nineteen seventeen and nineteen twenty-two, playing a crucial role in the Independence Senate and the Civil War-era White cabinet. He was instrumental in implementing a land reform in nineteen twenty-two aimed at assisting tenant farmers in acquiring their own land.

In the political arena, Kallio was a candidate in the nineteen thirty-one presidential election, ultimately defeating the incumbent president Pehr Evind Svinhufvud in the elections of nineteen thirty-seven. Remarkably, he was the only president of Finland without an academic or similar degree, yet his impact on the nation was profound and lasting.
