Lady A

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Lady A

Lady A, originally known as Lady Antebellum, is a prominent American country music group that emerged from Nashville, Tennessee, in two thousand six. The trio consists of Hillary Scott, who provides lead and background vocals, Charles Kelley, also a lead and background vocalist, and Dave Haywood, who contributes background vocals and plays guitar, piano, and mandolin. Hillary Scott is the daughter of renowned country singer Linda Davis, while Charles Kelley is the brother of pop artist Josh Kelley.

In June two thousand twenty, the group made the significant decision to shorten their name to Lady A amid the George Floyd protests, aiming to distance themselves from the historical connotations associated with the term 'Antebellum' and its ties to slavery. This change, however, led to a dispute with Anita White, a Black blues and gospel singer who had been using the name Lady A for over twenty years.

Lady A first gained recognition in two thousand seven as guest vocalists on Jim Brickman's single 'Never Alone' before signing with Capitol Nashville. The group has since released six studio albums under Capitol, including Lady Antebellum, Need You Now, Own the Night, Golden, 747, and Heart Break, along with a Christmas album titled On This Winter's Night and another album for Nashville Harbor Records & Entertainment called Ocean. Their first three albums achieved platinum status or higher from the Recording Industry Association of America.

Throughout their career, Lady A has produced sixteen singles that have charted on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, with nine of those reaching the number one position. Notably, 'Need You Now' became their longest-lasting number one single, holding that spot for five weeks in two thousand nine, and both 'Need You Now' and 'Just a Kiss' topped the Adult Contemporary charts.

The group has received numerous accolades, including the Top New Duo or Group award from the Academy of Country Music and New Artist of the Year from the Country Music Association in two thousand eight. They have been nominated for four Grammy Awards, winning Best Country Performance by Duo or Group with Vocals for 'I Run to You' and five awards at the fifty-third Annual Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year for 'Need You Now'. By August two thousand thirteen, Lady A had sold over twelve and a half million digital singles and ten million albums in the United States.
