Lakhdar Belloumi

Lakhdar Belloumi, born on December twenty-ninth, nineteen fifty-eight, is a celebrated figure in the world of football, renowned for his exceptional skills as an attacking midfielder. Hailing from Algeria, he is often regarded as the greatest Algerian player of all time and one of Africa's finest talents. His innovative approach to the game led to the creation of the 'Blind Pass,' a technique that has influenced many players.

Throughout his illustrious career, Belloumi earned a remarkable one hundred national caps for the Algerian national team, a record that stood for years. Although FIFA does not recognize an additional forty-seven caps, his contributions to the team are undeniable. He is also the third highest goalscorer in the history of the national team, netting twenty-eight goals, with an additional six goals not acknowledged by FIFA.

Belloumi's legacy is further cemented by his memorable performance during the 1982 World Cup in Spain, where he scored a pivotal goal against the reigning European champions, West Germany. This stunning victory, which ended in a two-to-one scoreline, marked Algeria's remarkable debut on the world stage.

In recognition of his outstanding achievements, he was named the fourth-best African player of the century by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS).
