Lakshmi Sahgal

Lakshmi Sahgal, born Lakshmi Swaminathan on 24 October 1914, was a prominent Indian politician and a dedicated activist. Her life was marked by her unwavering commitment to the Indian independence movement, where she emerged as a revolutionary figure. Sahgal's contributions were not limited to politics; she was also a skilled physician and gynecologist, showcasing her diverse talents and dedication to public service.

During World War II, Lakshmi served as an officer in the Indian National Army, where she earned the title of Captain Lakshmi.
