He began his wrestling career in two thousand, making a significant impact in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) from two thousand four to two thousand nine. Initially wrestling as Dallas, he quickly rose to prominence, winning the NWA World Tag Team Championship twice alongside Kid Kash.

In TNA, Archer adopted the ring name Lance Hoyt and later transformed into Lance Rock in two thousand eight, forming the Rock N Rave Infection with Jimmy Rave and Christy Hemme. After departing from TNA, he transitioned to WWE, where he competed as Vance Archer until two thousand ten. His journey then took him to Japan, where he signed with New Japan Pro-Wrestling, wrestling under his real name, Lance Archer.

During his tenure in NJPW, Archer joined the notorious Suzuki-Gun faction, achieving notable success by winning the G1 Tag League in two thousand eleven with Minoru Suzuki. He later teamed up with Davey Boy Smith Jr. as the Killer Elite Squad, capturing the IWGP Tag Team Championship twice, the NWA World Tag Team Championship twice, and the GHC Tag Team Championship twice between two thousand fourteen and two thousand nineteen.
