Langdarma

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Langdarma

Darma U Dum Tsen, more commonly known as Langdarma, was a significant figure in Tibetan history, serving as the last king of the Tibetan Empire. Born in the year eight hundred and three, he ascended to the throne in eight hundred and forty-one after a tumultuous rise to power that included the assassination of his brother, Tritsuk Detsen, in eight hundred and thirty-eight.

Langdarma's reign, though brief, was marked by pivotal changes that ultimately led to the dissolution of the Tibetan Empire. Under his rule, the empire, which had once extended far beyond the Tibetan Plateau, encompassing vital trade routes along the Silk Roads and regions in China, Afghanistan, and India, began to fragment.

His rule came to an abrupt end in eight hundred and forty-two when he was assassinated by a Buddhist monk named Lhalung Pelgyi Dorje. This event not only marked the end of his reign but also signified a turning point in Tibetan history, as the empire struggled to maintain its influence and cohesion in the years that followed.
