Lao She

Shu Qingchun, better known by his pen name Lao She, was born on February 3, 1899, and emerged as a prominent figure in Chinese literature. A writer of Manchu ethnicity, Lao She is celebrated for his insightful depictions of urban life, particularly through the lens of the Beijing dialect. His works, including the acclaimed novel 'Rickshaw Boy' and the influential play 'Teahouse,' showcase his ability to capture the essence of the human experience in a rapidly changing society.
