Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of László Tőkés

László Tőkés, born on April first, nineteen fifty-two, is a prominent Romanian pastor and politician of Hungarian descent. His political career includes serving as a Member of the European Parliament from two thousand seven to two thousand nineteen, during which he held the esteemed position of Vice-President from two thousand ten to two thousand twelve.

As the Bishop of the Reformed Diocese of Királyhágómellék within the Romanian Reformed Church, Tőkés has played a significant role in both religious and civic spheres. He is recognized as a former Honorary President of the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania, reflecting his commitment to the Hungarian community in Romania.

Tőkés's activism was pivotal in igniting the Romanian Revolution, a historic movement that led to the overthrow of Nicolae Ceaușescu and the end of communism in Romania. His efforts to resist eviction from his parsonage in Timișoara were instrumental in mobilizing public sentiment against the regime.

Currently, he serves as the president of the Hungarian National Council of Transylvania, advocating for the rights and representation of Transylvanian Hungarians. Although closely associated with the Hungarian People's Party of Transylvania, he remains an independent figure. Additionally, Tőkés is a member of the Reconciliation of European Histories Group and co-sponsored the European Parliament resolution on European conscience and totalitarianism on April second, two thousand nine.
