Lata Mangeshkar

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Lata Mangeshkar

Lata Mangeshkar, born on September twenty-eighth, nineteen twenty-nine, was an iconic Indian playback singer whose influence spanned eight decades. Renowned as the 'Queen of Melody' and the 'Voice of the Millennium,' she is celebrated as one of the greatest singers in the Indian subcontinent. Her remarkable career saw her record songs in over thirty-six Indian languages, with a primary focus on Hindustani, Bengali, and Marathi.

Known for her unwavering discipline, Mangeshkar recorded her songs barefoot, viewing the recording studio as a sacred space. Despite her perfectionist nature, she famously refrained from listening to her own songs post-release, believing that doing so would only highlight her perceived flaws.

Throughout her illustrious career, Mangeshkar received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in nineteen eighty-nine and the Bharat Ratna in two thousand one, making her the second singer to receive India's highest civilian honor. Her contributions to music were further recognized internationally when she was made an officer of the National Order of the Legion of Honour by France in two thousand nine.

Her accolades also include three National Film Awards, fifteen Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards, and four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, among others. In nineteen seventy-four, she made history as the first Indian playback singer to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Mangeshkar was even featured in the Guinness World Records as the most recorded artist in history, a title later passed to her sister, Asha Bhosle.
