Alyssa Michelle Stephens, known professionally as Latto, is an American rapper and singer hailing from Atlanta, born on December 22, 1998. She first gained national attention in 2016 as Miss Mulatto on Jermaine Dupri's reality series The Rap Game, where she showcased her talent and won the inaugural season. Despite her victory, she opted to decline the recording contract offered by Dupri's So So Def Recordings, choosing instead to carve her own path in the music industry.

Latto's breakthrough came with the release of her 2019 single "Bitch from da Souf," which achieved double platinum status from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and marked her debut on the Billboard Hot 100. Following her signing with RCA Records, this track served as the lead single for her debut studio album, Queen of da Souf, released in 2020. The album performed moderately well on the Billboard 200 and included the platinum-certified hit "Muwop," featuring Gucci Mane.

In 2021, after rebranding herself as Latto, she gained wider recognition with the release of her single "Big Energy," which peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and received triple platinum certification. The song was a significant success, landing at number seven on the Year-End Hot 100 chart and earning her nominations for Best Melodic Rap Performance and Best New Artist at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. This track was the lead single for her second studio album, 777, released in 2022, which reached number fifteen on the Billboard 200.

Latto's collaboration with Jung Kook on the 2023 single "Seven" marked a high point in her career, as it became her first song to top both the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Global 200. Additionally, her single "Put It on da Floor Again," featuring Cardi B, peaked at number thirteen on the Hot 100 and served as the lead single for her upcoming third studio album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, set for release in 2024.
