Laura Badea-Cârlescu

Laura Badea-Cârlescu, born on March twenty-eighth, nineteen seventy, is a distinguished retired Romanian foil fencer whose illustrious career has left an indelible mark on the sport. She achieved remarkable success, becoming the world champion in nineteen ninety-five and clinching the Olympic gold medal in nineteen ninety-six. Additionally, she showcased her prowess by winning European championships in nineteen ninety-six, nineteen ninety-seven, and two thousand four.

Over the course of her twenty-three-year career at the pinnacle of fencing, Laura amassed an impressive total of twenty-three medals across the Olympics, World Championships, European Championships, and Universiade. Her dedication and skill not only earned her accolades but also paved the way for her transition into coaching and sports administration following her retirement.

In her post-competitive career, Laura has taken on numerous significant roles within the sports community. She served as the President of the Athletes Commission for the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee from two thousand one to two thousand five.
