Bacall's journey began as a model with the Walter Thornton Model Agency, leading to her film debut at the tender age of nineteen in the classic film To Have and Have Not (1944). It was here that she starred opposite Humphrey Bogart, who would later become her husband. She solidified her status in the film noir genre with memorable performances in The Big Sleep (1946), Dark Passage (1947), and Key Largo (1948), while also showcasing her talent in romantic comedies such as How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) and Designing Woman (1957).
