Lauren Schmetterling

Lauren Schmetterling, born on August third, nineteen eighty-eight, is a distinguished American rower celebrated for her remarkable achievements in the sport. Hailing from Voorhees Township, New Jersey, she spent her formative years in Moorestown, where she graduated from Moorestown High School in two thousand six. Her passion for rowing blossomed during her youth, leading her to pursue the sport at a collegiate level.

Schmetterling's rowing career reached new heights as she clinched a total of four gold medals in the Women's eight competition at prestigious events, including the World Rowing Championships in two thousand thirteen, two thousand fourteen, and two thousand fifteen, as well as at the two thousand sixteen Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro. These victories solidified her status as one of the elite athletes in her field.

In two thousand twenty-one, Schmetterling transitioned from athlete to coach, taking on the role of coach for the Michigan Wolverines rowing team. Her extensive experience and dedication to the sport have made her an invaluable asset to the team, inspiring the next generation of rowers.

With a degree in economics from Colgate University, which she earned in two thousand ten, Schmetterling combines her academic background with her athletic expertise, showcasing her multifaceted talents both on and off the water.
