Lauri Törni

Lauri Törni, born on May twenty-eighth, nineteen nineteen, was a distinguished military officer whose life was marked by remarkable service in two different armies. Initially, he fought with the Finnish Volunteer Battalion of the Waffen-SS during World War II, where he engaged the Red Army on the Eastern Front. His military career was characterized by a fierce dedication to his cause and a commitment to his comrades.

After the war, Törni relocated to the United States, where he adopted the alias 'Larry Thorne.' He continued his military career by enlisting in the U.S. Army, ultimately rising to the rank of Major. His service in the U.S. Army Special Forces during the Vietnam War was notable, as he participated in covert operations under the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG).

Tragically, Törni's life was cut short on October eighteenth, nineteen sixty-five, when he died in a helicopter crash during a covert mission in Laos. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear, and the rugged terrain and adverse weather conditions complicated recovery efforts. It took three decades for Törni's remains, along with those of his fellow soldiers, to be located and returned.
