Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Lavr Kornilov

Lavr Kornilov, born on August eighteenth, eighteen seventy, in Ust-Kamenogorsk, was a prominent figure in the Imperial Russian Army, serving as a military intelligence officer, explorer, and general during a tumultuous period in Russian history. His military career began after graduating from the Mikhailovsky Artillery School and the General Staff Academy, where he quickly distinguished himself in the Russo-Japanese War and later as a military attaché in Qing China.

During World War I, Kornilov commanded the 48th Infantry Division and became renowned for his audacious escape from Austrian captivity in nineteen fifteen. His strategic successes on the Eastern Front propelled him to the position of Supreme Commander of the Russian Army amidst the revolutionary upheaval of nineteen seventeen, a role that would define his legacy.

Following the Bolshevik seizure of power in November nineteen seventeen, Kornilov emerged as a pivotal leader in the White movement. After escaping detention post the Kornilov Affair, an unsuccessful coup d'état against the Provisional Government led by Alexander Kerensky, he co-founded the Volunteer Army and commanded its forces in southern Russia during the early stages of the Russian Civil War.

Kornilov's life came to a tragic end in nineteen eighteen during the siege of Yekaterinodar, when he was killed by a Soviet shell. His legacy remains a subject of intense debate, with some viewing him as a patriot striving for Russia's unity, while others see him as a reactionary figure whose actions contributed to the nation's descent into chaos.
