Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Lawrence Alexander Wilson

Lawrence Alexander Wilson, born on June fourteenth, eighteen sixty-three in Montreal, was a notable figure in Quebec's business, philanthropy, and politics. His family, originally from Aberdeen, Scotland, settled in Lower Canada during the nineteenth century, establishing roots that would flourish in the Coteau-du-Lac and Soulanges regions.

From eighteen eighty-nine to nineteen twenty-one, Wilson built a successful career as a wholesale wine and liquor merchant. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to found the Quebec Land Company in nineteen oh six, a firm dedicated to property development.

Wilson's political journey began in the nineteen twenties when he was elected as the Liberal Member of Parliament for Vaudreuil—Soulanges in the nineteen twenty-five federal election. He was re-elected in the nineteen twenty-six election and briefly resigned in February nineteen twenty-nine, only to be persuaded to run again in a by-election, successfully returning to the House of Commons in July of the same year.

In June nineteen thirty, he was appointed to the Senate of Canada by Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King, serving until his death in office four years later. Wilson was also known for his philanthropic efforts, including a generous donation of part of his property to the town of Coteau-du-Lac in nineteen twenty-three for the creation of a park, along with a contribution of five thousand dollars to construct a pavilion named in his honor.

Wilson's legacy is further enriched by his familial connections, notably his brother-in-law, Maurice Perrault, a prominent Quebec legislator.
