Layamon

Layamon, an English poet and writer of the late twelfth and early thirteenth centuries, is best known for his remarkable work, the Brut. This significant literary piece stands out as the first to present the legendary tales of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table in the English language, marking a pivotal moment in the evolution of Arthurian literature.

Spelled Laȝamon or Laȝamonn during his time, and occasionally referred to as Lawman, he played a crucial role in the transmission of early English legends.
