Lazar Branković, born in the year fourteen hundred twenty-one, was a notable figure in Serbian history, serving as the Despot of Serbia from fourteen fifty-six to fourteen fifty-eight. He was the third son of Despot Đurađ Branković and Eirene Kantakouzene, a lineage that placed him in a significant position within the Serbian nobility.
His reign, though brief, was marked by the challenges of the time, as Serbia faced external pressures and internal strife. Despite the tumultuous environment, Lazar's leadership was a continuation of his family's legacy, which had been established by his father.
Unfortunately, Lazar Branković's life came to an end without leaving behind any sons to carry on his name. Following his death, the mantle of leadership passed to his elder brother, Despot Stefan Branković, ensuring the continuation of the Branković lineage in Serbian history.
