Lazarus You Heung-sik

Lazarus You Heung-sik, born on November seventeenth, nineteen fifty-one, is a distinguished South Korean prelate of the Catholic Church. He has made history as the first Korean to lead a department within the Roman Curia, currently serving as the Prefect of the Dicastery for the Clergy since two thousand twenty-one.

Before his appointment to the Dicastery, You held the position of Bishop of Daejeon from two thousand five to two thousand twenty-one. His journey in the episcopate began as a coadjutor bishop under Bishop Joseph Kyeong Kap-ryong, where he served for two years, contributing significantly to the diocese.

In recognition of his service and dedication to the Church, You was elevated to the rank of cardinal by Pope Francis in two thousand twenty-two. His leadership and commitment to the Catholic faith continue to inspire many within and beyond his community.
