Lê Thánh Tông

Lê Thánh Tông, born Lê Hạo on the twenty-fifth of August in the year one thousand four hundred forty-two, ascended to the throne as the emperor of Đại Việt in the year one thousand four hundred sixty. His reign, which lasted until the third of March in the year one thousand four hundred ninety-seven, marked him as the fifth and longest-reigning emperor of the Lê dynasty.

Known for his remarkable leadership, Lê Thánh Tông is celebrated as one of the greatest monarchs in Vietnamese history. His rise to power was marked by a coup d'état against his elder brother, Lê Nghi Dân, which set the stage for a transformative era in the region.

During his reign, Lê Thánh Tông implemented extensive reforms across various sectors, including administration, military, education, and fiscal policies. His military conquests expanded Đại Việt's territory to the south, notably through the annexation of Cham states. Furthermore, he replaced the old aristocracy with a new class of literati scholars, fostering a culture of education and governance.

The period of his rule is often referred to as the Prospered reign of Hồng Đức, a testament to the stability and prosperity that characterized his time on the throne. Lê Thánh Tông's legacy continues to resonate in Vietnamese history, reflecting his significant contributions to the nation's development.
