Leena Alam

Leena Alam, born on January first, nineteen seventy-eight, is a prominent Afghan actress, film producer, and human rights defender. With a career that began in nineteen ninety-eight, she has made significant contributions to film, television, and theater, becoming a voice for critical social issues.

Alam is best known for her roles in films such as Kabuli Kid, Black Kite, Loori, A Letter to the President, and Hassan. Her work often addresses pressing topics like child marriage, gender inequality, and women's rights, reflecting her commitment to social change.

One of her most notable achievements is her portrayal in the groundbreaking television drama Shereen, which earned her the nickname 'Shereen of Afghanistan.' This series, directed by Ghafar Azad and produced by Kaboora and Tolo TV, was the first of its kind in Afghanistan, tackling taboo subjects and was nominated for Best Mini-Series Drama at the Seoul International Drama Awards in two thousand sixteen.
