Leigh Griffiths, born on August 20, 1990, is a talented Scottish professional footballer who currently plays as a striker for Stirling Macedonia in Australia. His journey in football began at Livingston, where he made his debut at the young age of sixteen, showcasing his potential early on.
In 2009, Griffiths made a significant move to Dundee for a transfer fee of one hundred twenty-five thousand pounds. Over the next five years in the Scottish First Division, he earned six young player of the month awards, establishing himself as a promising talent. However, due to financial difficulties at Dundee, he transferred to Wolverhampton Wanderers for approximately one hundred fifty thousand pounds in January 2011.
Griffiths spent the 2011–12 season on loan at Hibernian, where he made a remarkable impact, renewing his loan for the following season. His outstanding performances earned him the SFWA Footballer of the Year award and marked his debut for the Scotland national team. After a brief period where it seemed he would be integrated into Wolves' first team, he made a mid-season switch to Celtic during the 2013–14 season.
At Celtic, Griffiths enjoyed a prolific scoring record and became a regular feature for the Scotland national team, notably scoring twice in a memorable 2–2 draw against England in June 2017. However, after struggling for form in later years, he returned to Dundee on loan for the first half of the 2021–22 season. Following his recall by Celtic, he was released at the end of the January 2022 transfer window and subsequently signed with Falkirk in the Scottish League One. On August 9, 2022, he joined Mandurah City in Western Australia, where he also contributes to the coaching staff.
