She was born into a family deeply rooted in the performing arts, as the daughter of renowned Iranian actors Jahangir Forouhar and Farangis Farahzadi. Leila's journey in the entertainment industry began at a remarkably young age, with her first acting role at just five years old.

Her career flourished in Iran, where she starred in over forty-five films before the 1979 Iranian Revolution. Following the revolution, Leila faced significant changes in her life and career.
