Leila Khaled

Leila Khaled, born on April ninth, nineteen forty-four, is a prominent Palestinian political activist and former militant known for her significant role in the history of aviation security. As a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), she gained international attention for her involvement in two high-profile plane hijackings during the late nineteen sixties.

Khaled first captured the world's gaze in nineteen sixty-nine when she participated in the hijacking of TWA Flight 840. This event marked her as the second woman ever to engage in such an operation, a bold move that underscored her commitment to the Palestinian cause. The following year, she was involved in one of the four simultaneous hijackings at Dawson's Field, which were part of the notorious Black September campaign in Jordan.

Her actions led to her imprisonment, but Khaled's story did not end there. She was eventually released in a prisoner exchange for civilian hostages taken by other members of the PFLP, further solidifying her status as a controversial yet influential figure in the struggle for Palestinian rights.
