Lekë Dukagjini

Lekë Dukagjini, a prominent figure of the fifteenth century, was an Albanian nobleman who played a crucial role in the resistance against the Ottoman Empire. Born in the year fourteen hundred and ten, he ascended to power as the ruler of the Principality of Dukagjini in fourteen forty-six, a position he held until the Ottoman conquest in fourteen seventy-nine.

As a member of the esteemed Dukagjini family, Lekë was a contemporary of the legendary Skanderbeg, sharing in the struggles and aspirations of the Albanian people during a tumultuous period in their history. His leadership was marked by a commitment to preserving Albanian autonomy and culture in the face of foreign domination.

One of Lekë Dukagjini's most enduring legacies is the Code of Lekë Dukagjini, a comprehensive set of customary laws that governed the tribes of northern Albania for centuries.
