Leland Sklar, born on May twenty-eighth, nineteen forty-seven, is a distinguished American bassist and session musician whose career has spanned decades. He gained significant recognition as a member of James Taylor's backing band, which evolved into The Section. This group became synonymous with Asylum Records, serving as the de facto house band for a multitude of iconic singer-songwriters during the vibrant music scene of the nineteen seventies.
Throughout his illustrious career, Sklar has collaborated with a plethora of renowned artists, including Jackson Browne, Carole King, Linda Ronstadt, Phil Collins, Toto, The Doors, Suzy Bogguss, and Lyle Lovett.
