Leonid Chernovetskyi, born on November twenty-fifth, nineteen fifty-one, is a prominent Ukrainian politician and former entrepreneur. He served as the Mayor of Kyiv from two thousand six to two thousand twelve, during which he made significant contributions to the city's governance.
Before entering politics, Chernovetskyi was a successful businessman, establishing himself as the founder and controlling stakeholder of the Pravex Group and Pravex Bank, which became one of the largest banking institutions in Ukraine. His entrepreneurial spirit and financial acumen played a crucial role in shaping the banking landscape of the country.
However, his political career faced challenges when, following the appointment of Oleksandr Popov by President Viktor Yanukovych as Head of Kyiv City State Administration on November sixteenth, two thousand ten, Chernovetskyi found himself stripped of any real decision-making authority in the city. This shift marked a turning point in his tenure as mayor.
On June first, two thousand twelve, Chernovetskyi tendered his resignation, signaling the end of his official role in Kyiv's administration. After stepping down, he relocated with his family to the Georgian town of Kobuleti, where he later acquired Georgian citizenship, marking a new chapter in his life.
