Leonid Potapov

Leonid Potapov, born on July fourth, nineteen thirty-five, is a prominent figure in Russian politics, known for his significant contributions to the governance of Buryatia.

He served as the Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of Buryatia from August nineteen ninety-one until nineteen ninety-four, a role that marked the beginning of his influential political career.

In July nineteen ninety-four, Potapov ascended to the presidency of the Buryat Republic, a position he held until July two thousand seven. His leadership was characterized by three successful reelections in nineteen ninety-four, nineteen ninety-eight, and two thousand two, with a remarkable seventy percent of the vote in the latter election.
