Leslie Cheung, born on September twelfth, nineteen fifty-six, in Kowloon, British Hong Kong, was a multifaceted artist whose influence transcended borders. He began his education in England at the age of twelve, returning to Hong Kong in nineteen seventy-six. His career took off in nineteen seventy-seven when he participated in RTV's Asian Singing Contest, but it was in nineteen eighty-four that he truly captured the public's heart with his hit single 'Monica'.

Regarded as one of the founding fathers of Cantopop, Cheung played a pivotal role in defining the genre during the nineteen eighties. Over his illustrious twenty-six-year career, he released more than forty music albums and starred in fifty-six films. His musical journey saw a significant pause in nineteen eighty-nine when he announced his retirement, followed by his emigration to Canada. However, he made a triumphant return to Hong Kong in nineteen ninety-four, reemerging with his daring album 'Red' in the late nineteen nineties.

In addition to his musical achievements, Cheung gained pan-Asian fame through his remarkable performances in films such as 'A Better Tomorrow' in nineteen eighty-six and 'A Chinese Ghost Story' in nineteen eighty-seven.
