Letitia Vriesde

Letitia Vriesde, born on October fifth, nineteen sixty-four, is a distinguished former track and field athlete from Suriname, renowned for her exceptional prowess in middle-distance running. Specializing primarily in the 800 metres, she also achieved remarkable success in the 1500 metres, showcasing her versatility and talent on the track.

Vriesde made history as the first and, to date, the only sportsperson from Suriname to compete in five Olympic Games, a testament to her enduring dedication and skill in athletics. Her career is highlighted by significant achievements, including a silver medal at the 1995 World Championships and a bronze medal at the 2001 World Championships, solidifying her status as one of the top competitors in her field.

In addition to her championship accolades, Vriesde holds multiple South American records, including those for the 800 metres, 1000 metres, and 1500 metres, both indoors and outdoors.
