Lew Wasserman

Lew Wasserman, born on March twenty-second, nineteen thirteen, was a prominent American entrepreneur, talent agent, and film producer. Often referred to as 'the last of the legendary movie moguls,' he was recognized as one of the most powerful and influential figures in Hollywood for nearly four decades following World War II. His remarkable career, which spanned almost eight decades from the 1920s to the 2000s, began humbly as a cinema usher.

Wasserman's ascent in the entertainment industry was nothing short of extraordinary. After dropping out of high school, he climbed the ranks to become the president of MCA Inc. His leadership was pivotal during the company's takeover of Universal Pictures, where he implemented transformative changes across various facets of show business, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.

In recognition of his significant contributions, Wasserman was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in nineteen ninety-five by President Bill Clinton. Even years later, he remained actively involved with Universal, famously stating, 'I am under contract here for the rest of my life, and I don't think they would throw me out of my office—my name is on the building.'
